Records and photos
Tally helps you record tasks, complete activities, and create receipts. The current version does not require you to register an account. Task text, dates, completion status, recurrence settings, photos, and receipt records are stored in the app's storage on your device. Photo processing takes place on your device; photos are not uploaded to developer-operated servers or online AI services.
Voice recordings and on-device transcription
After you grant microphone access, Tally stores voice recordings, waveforms, and transcription text on your device and transcribes with Apple on-device speech modules. Audio is not sent to a cloud recognition service for transcription. The system may download a local model when needed; downloading a model does not upload your recording. Failed transcription may leave the recording in a recoverable draft for later handling. Cancelling the current recording stops capture and attempts to remove its unsaved recording file. Deleting a saved voice note updates the current record and removes its local audio file after a successful save when no other record references it. These actions do not promise erasure of existing exports, recovery backups, or historical cloud copies.
iCloud sync and full backups
When iCloud automatic sync is enabled, task text, dates, completion status, recurrence rules, photos and original images, voice recordings, waveforms, transcription text and pending recording drafts, receipt opening information, and saved weather information (including coordinates) are saved through CloudKit to the current Apple Account's private iCloud storage. Sync is enabled by default and can be turned off in “iCloud 与备份” (iCloud & Backups). Records continue to be saved locally when you are not signed in or iCloud is unavailable. Tally does not require a separate account or obtain your Apple Account password. It stores only an account identifier within the container to prevent records from being mixed when accounts change. The developer has no account dashboard for viewing these private records. Turning off sync or deleting the app does not automatically delete data already stored in iCloud. Cloud data and storage can be managed in the system's iCloud settings and are subject to the terms of Apple or the iCloud service provider in your region. Full exported backups and recovery or conflict copies also include these recordings.
Weather and location
If you allow location access, Tally sends the coordinates returned by the system to Apple through WeatherKit to request weather. Tally requests approximately kilometer-level system location and uses the coordinates actually returned by the system without further rounding. Actual precision depends on the system result and your Precise Location setting; returned coordinates may be more precise than kilometer-level. Coordinates are saved with weather records and are no longer used for automatic historical weather backfill; choosing a city in sharing sends that city’s coordinates for weather. They are also synced when iCloud sync is enabled. Denying location access does not prevent task recording or photo features. Turning location access off stops new location acquisition but does not delete saved coordinates or withdraw previous requests. Apple states that WeatherKit location information is used only to provide weather, is not associated with personally identifiable information, and is not tracked between requests.
City searches and third-party services
City query text entered on the sharing screen is sent to Apple Maps. The selected city coordinates are sent to WeatherKit for weather. The sharing preview may also use Apple Maps to convert coordinates into a city name. Apple processes queries, location, and network request information under the relevant service privacy notices; processing may take place outside your country or region. This version no longer sends requests to Open-Meteo. Weather saved before the upgrade keeps its original values and may have originated from Open-Meteo. Earlier requests remain subject to the original service retention rules; migration does not withdraw them.
Camera, photo library, and notifications
Camera permission is used to take photos you want to add to a record. Photo library permission is used to select photos, and add-only photo permission is used to save receipt images or contact QR codes you confirm to the system photo library. Notification permission allows iOS to schedule task reminders locally; they are not sent through a developer-operated push server. You can disable these permissions in iOS Settings. The corresponding features will be affected, but existing tasks remain viewable. Reminders may display task text; you can disable notification previews in system settings.
Device motion and tapping
Tally uses device tilt to adjust interface buttons and acceleration information to recognize tap shortcuts. This sensor information is used on your device for interaction and is not sent to the developer or weather service. If you train a custom tapping rhythm, its template is saved in local settings and can be cleared in tapping settings. You can also turn tap shortcuts off.
Widgets and sharing you initiate
Tally shares display data, such as task summaries and completion information, locally with its own Home Screen widgets. Widgets may display task text on the Home Screen; remove them if needed. Receipt content is passed to the system photo library or a receiving app you choose only when you actively save or share it. The recipient handles it under its own privacy policy. Please review text, photos, and location descriptions in an image before sharing it.
Local storage and data management
You can edit or delete tasks in the app. Carry-forward entries and historical receipts may retain other records of the same activity, which need to be managed separately. App storage may retain upgrade backups, legacy data, and disposable caches. Ordinary deletion does not promise to immediately erase every historical copy. Whether system backups include app data depends on your iOS, iCloud, or computer backup settings. Exported images, system backups, and copies already shared with others must be managed in their respective locations. The developer has no account dashboard for remotely viewing or restoring your local tasks. Full backup files contain all the records, photos and original images, voice recordings, and transcriptions described above and should only be saved to locations you trust. Restore operations and conflict handling retain complete copies inside the app. Cloud storage may also retain a previous generation of data or incomplete upload chunks; deleting an ordinary task does not mean every copy is immediately erased. Export local recovery copies before deleting the app if you want to retain them.
Pro purchases and system services
First launch does not automatically start a Pro trial. After you actively claim the three-day trial, Tally uses the verified Apple StoreKit transaction time to calculate 72 hours and saves trial and purchase state in the local Keychain. Restarting, updating, or restoring a receipt backup does not restart the trial. The trial does not charge automatically; basic recording stays free and Pro features require purchase after expiry. Older beta trial information may remain but is not used for the new trial. Apple StoreKit handles purchases, and verified transactions update Pro state on your device and widgets. Tally does not obtain payment card information or your Apple account password and does not operate a purchase verification server. Apple handles purchases, TestFlight, and system diagnostics you choose to enable under its policies. Tally does not integrate advertising, cross-app tracking, or third-party behavioral analytics SDKs, and does not sell records to data brokers.
Policy updates
This policy applies to the features currently integrated into the app. If we add other account services or features that change how data is handled, we will update this policy and notify you as required.
